Mystical rock formation taking the shape of a giant traditional stove or cooking tripod protrudes the sea level along the Sug-ang area of the Tagbilaran Strait as if naturally designed to beguile picnic buddies and sea adventure lovers.
Being the only one of its kind, its spectacle inspired the Three Stonenians to dream for a local
version of India's Lake Kerala where a tourist destination called Coco House Boats offers romantic backwater cruises with one-bedroom, two-bedroom, three-bedroom and family house boats for hire that serve as floating accommodations for tourists.
We see their advertisements at www.realadventures.com for the Coco House Boats andThree Stones

The present generation of the Three Stonenians, under
the leadership of Martin Alcano as the group’s president, Marcela Cinco- -the group’s secretary; and another top-ranking member - -Mercedita Quibir-Varela, exerted efforts to gain the support of the barangay council to declare the rock formation as a landmark that will revive its tag in the past as a tourist destination.
This way, the Three Stonenians aim to revive the
prominence of the rock formation called the Three Stones, from which their group was named after, like in the time of their ancestors who composed the pioneering batch of the association.
Varela cited that a barangay ordinance passed in 2002 even provided for the inclusion of an
image of the Three Stones which signifies the three big rocks resting on a mass of a bigger rock to form a giant traditional stone cooking tripod protruding the sea level offshore of sitio Sug-ang, coined from the vernacular of traditional stove- -sug-angan.
Varela, Alcano, and Cinco stressed that it will all start with the preservation of the Three Stones
by protecting it from activities like anchoring of sea vessels at the mass of the rock formation and collecting pebbles from there.
Indeed, in its July 21 session, the Poblacion 1 Barangay Council passed a proposed ordinance
prohibiting any pumpboat, vessel and others from anchoring within 15 meters from the rock formation. Another proposed ordinance was passed, prohibiting any person from destroying the mass of the rock formation by taking any stone or pebble from the Three Stones. For this, the barangay committee on environment placed a notice at the rock formation.
The amazing rock formation, that three generations of the Three Stonenians had spent
childhood with, reminds Varela of a beautiful home to return to whenever she comes across other mystic rock formations and lakes in her travels abroad, especially Kerala Lake in India.
She said the amazing Three Stones can serve as a good lever for other potential tourism and
adventure spruce-ups along the shorelines of Sug-ang facing the rock formation and the sight of Dauis mountain range across.
Like in Kerala Lake, local investors can develop the offshore area and shorelines of Sug-ang into
a backwater cruise zone, an alternative to the river cruise in Loay and Loboc. The area can also be a pleasing welcome panorama for tourists and travelers who will pass the causeways in the eastern and western portions of the strait on their way to Panglao from mainland Bohol or vice versa, especially with the eyed Panglao international airport.
Surely, dates can be more romantic on a luxury houseboat cruise that spells an enchanting
holiday experience at a scenic backwater life at the historic Sug-ang Bay.
