Boholana makes it to top 10 in Accountancy board exam
June 7, 2009
Larianne Kristine Corciega Betancor of Loon town ranked fifth with the score of 90.71 percent in recent Philippine CPA Licensure conducted on May 10, 11, 17 and 18 in selected regional offices of the Philippine Regulation Commission in Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo and Legazpi.
Out of 4,262 examinees 1,231 passed, based on the results released a day after the last day of examination.
Betancor, a resident of barangay Moto Norte, Loon, graduated magna cum laude from the University of San Jose Recoletos in Cebu.
Other topnotchers were Conrad Jonathan Tan Lee from De La Salle University-Manila, who got 92.57 percent; Leomar Rita Cabarles from University of Rizal System, 92.00 percent; Mabel Laguerta Buted from De La Salle University, 91.14 percent; Joseph Ian Concepcion Asuncion from University of the East-Manila, 91 percent; Reinier Jeffrey Epino Abdon from the Philippine Christian University-Manila, 90.57 percent; Oliver Malang Bartolome from Technological Institute of the Philippines-Manila, 90.57 percent; Daniel Jan Español del Mundo from De La Salle University, 90.29 percent; Jeramael Presbitero Villaber from the University of Cebu, 89.71 percent; Angelica Christine Francisco Torres from De La Salle University, 89.57 percent; and Maximilian Hamada Chan from Saint Louis University, 88.71 percent.
Betancor graduated high school as valedictorian from Loon’s Sacred Heart Academy.
Another SHA valedictorian, Romualdo Murcia from Cabilao Island, also in Loon, placed number one in the same board exam in 1997.
That surprised other topnotch Accountancy schools in the country including his alma mater, Holy Name University, then Divine Word College in Tagbilaran City, which at that time was celebrating golden anniversary.
In a coincidence, Betancor and Murcia met for the first time at Punongbayan-Araullo, a well-known accounting firm where he works.
It has been a tradition of the firm to meet all Accountancy board topnotchers for possible immediate hiring, which happened to Betancor.
The oathtaking ceremony of the successful examinees will be held on June 22 at 1pm in the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center, Manila.
