Bohol prepares for tourism and trade fair in KoreaThis is a featured page

The provincial government finds the upcoming South Korean tourism and trade expo next month as another opportunity to promote Bohol tourism and local products to an international audience.

The tourism and trade fair during the 60th anniversary of Philippines-South Korea bilateral relationship and cooperation on May 30 and 31.

Participants in the event will display promotional materials for their tourism and industry products in igloo-type booths.

For Bohol, Provincial Government Media Affairs head and the governor’s chief of staff, Antonieto Pernia, and Provincial Administrator Tomas Abapo Jr. take charge of the general coordination in preparing for the event.

PGMA administrative officer and professional lay-out artist Emerson Pinos takes charge of the tarpaulin backdrop that will depict the different tourist destinations and products of Bohol- -including the adventure tour in Danao as a new material, and the usual beaches of Panglao and Anda Peninsula, Chocolate Hills, the tarsiers, Loboc River Cruise, man-made forest, and others.

Danao has developed the area in barangay Magtangtang where Francisco Dagohoy, the Boholano hero who waged an 85-year rebellion against the Spaniards- -the longest in Philippine history, had his base camp into an educational, adventure and tourism (EAT) site dubbed as EAT Danao with Mayor Tommy Gonzaga’s brother in the forefront of the municipal government’s private partners.

The coordination committee of the Governor’s Office also agreed to ask for copies of special Bohol brochures from the Department of Tourism regional office, to be included in the exhibit.

Governor Erico Aumentado also asked Yung Qu Park of Hanjin, as partner of the provincial government, to facilitate Korean translation for Bohol’s exhibit materials.

Enriqueta. Butalid, head of the Center for Culture and Arts Development (CCAD) of the Governor’s Office, will lead the government delegation to the expo, while Walter Sultan of the Provincial Tourism Council and Bohol Association of Hotel, Resorts and Restaurants or BAHRR will lead the private sector.

Processed Foods (ProFoods), an association of processed food manufacturers in Bohol, will be represented by its president, Arnold Labunog, owner of Jojie’s Bakeshop.

Butalid had also relayed that Boholano arts director Lutgardo Labad expressed interest to join Bohol’s official delegation.

She also said Vicky Wallace- -the owner of Bohol Bee Farm- -will be sending samples of her indigenous food products, while Provincial Board Member Josephine Socorro Jumamoy will be sending samples of products from Inabanga to be displayed in the exhibit. (Angeline Valencia/PGMA)
