City Hall boasts of an increase by P86,996 in the Alay-Lakad proceeds this year.
The Alay-Lakad committee has finally finished consolidating the report last week, showing the total proceeds of P283,996, exceeding last year’s P197,000.
The Alay-Lakad last September 18, anchored on the theme, “Lakad Kabataan; Ituloy and Kaunlaran”, gathered together over 200 groups with the JCI Bohol Sandugo and JCI Bohol Family as the lead organizations.
This time, a total of P36,790 was collected from on-site donations, while other donations reached P172,942, and the Miss Alay Lakad gathered P70,632. The Darling of the Crowd collections reached P3,632.
The Alay-Lakad audited financial statement will be made available next week at the City Social Welfare and Development Office.
The proceeds will be spent for the education of the CSWDO scholars which include Arsenio Ocoy, taking up BS Computer; Jonathan Taculod, BS Architecture; Apple Marie Cometa, BHRST; Amiegen Arejado, BSOSM; Janet Declaro, BSED; and Prisco Reyes III, BSED.
Dr. Teresita Villafuerte of the CSWDO takes charge of facilitating the scholarships of the beneficiary-students.
Mayor Dan Neri Lim serves as honorary chair of the steering committee, while City Councilor Leonides Borja serves as committee chair, and Dr. Villafuerte as secretariat.
The executive committee was chaired by JCI-Bohol Sandugo president Gibyrlu “LJ” Lumayag with the assistance of Kiwanis Club of Metro Tagbilaran president, Bert Biloy as vice-chair, Rotary Club of Upper Tagbilaran president Walter Lim as secretary, Bohol Tri-Media Association president Carlito Responte as auditor; and the members- -BCCI president Marietta Gasatan, Bohol Bankers Association president Rodney Lumuthang, CHARL president Gerald Marmito, and Rotary Club of Tagbilaran president, Engr. Vic Bantol.
Gasatan also chairs the finance committee. The chairs of other committees were Eduardo Macalandag of the CDPCO for the program committee, JCI-Bohol Sandugo Mem. Charles Borja for the graphics and design, PSupt. Julius Gornez of the TCPS for the walk committee, Responte for the public information committee, City Engineer Pianicita Castolo for the physical arrangement, Dr. Aleth Tago of the City Health Office for the first aid committee, Mardonio Roxas and Norma Varquez of DepEd-city for the judges/prizes and awards, German Paredes of the Chocolate Hills Amateur Radio League for communications and sounds.
For the Miss Alay Lakad, Rosemarie Schwartz, Boots Gango, and Raul Gatal- -all of the Rotary Club of Tagbilaran- -took charge.
The masters of ceremonies were Councilor Borja, City Information Officer Fiel Angeli Araoarao-Gabin, and Louella Gulle-Bantol of the Rotary Club of Tagbilaran.
Among the top donors were DepEd Bohol Division, P21,000; DepEd City Division, P19,041; Bohol Institute of Technology-International College (BIT-IC), P15,000; Bohol Bankers Association, P11,030; CVSCAFT–TCC, P10,630; Bohol Water Utilities, P10,000; Sangguniang Panlalawigan, P5,300; BOHECO I- -P5,000, Holy Name University- -P5,000, Englewood Hospital- -P5,000, Cesar Montano- -P5,000; University of Bohol, P4,040; and Alturas Group of Companies, P4,000.
This paved for the candidate from DepEd-Bohol division to the 2009 Miss Alay Lakad title, coupled with the Best in Production Number award.
Other organizations represented in the Miss Alay-Lakad 2009 included DepEd City Division through Miraluz Laway, AMA Computer School, and BIT-IC.
The BIT-IC bet got the Miss Fuller Life, Miss Fitness, and Darling of the Crowd awards.
Bohol Bankers Association bet, Annette Cabagnot, got the Miss Photogenic award courtesy of Fine Links.
JJC Maebelle Lumayag of the JCI Bohol Family was Miss Dunkin’ Donuts, with proceeds of P2,887. AMA Computer School followed with P1,300.
Miss Alay-Lakad sponsors included the Panaghoy Foundation, Alona Tropical Resort, Tropical Villas, Fine Links, Fuller Life, and Dunkin’ Donuts.
For the special awards, the Vendors group got the Most Colorful award. The Provincial Accountant’s Office (PaccO) was most creative, while the Governor’s Office was Best in Uniform and the DCPNHS was awarded the Liveliest Group.
From the proceeds, the Alay-Lakad Committee spent P70,000 for the preparations which included P12,100 for the Miss Alay Lakad, P4,000 for the sound system, P2,000 for the CHARL Allowance, P500 for the gasoline for the generator, P23,500 for the trophies, t-shirts, and raffle tickets, P9,094 for the stage design, P14,531 for newspaper ads, and P4,275 for the tarpaulin printing.
